If you had told me 10 years ago that I’d be able to do the splits, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. Considering everything that was wrong with my body, I was probably the last person on earth who would be a candidate for learning the splits. So if I was able to overcome my physical and mental limitations to learn this amazing skill in my forties, then why can’t you?

Believe in yourself. Never train without believing in yourself. Your mindset and self-belief will make or break your splits.

Splits require consistency and dedication and could take a while to learn. The key is tackle your imbalances first.

How long does it take to learn the splits? As long as it takes! This will depend on your current structure, your current ability to stabilize your spine and pelvis, your current mobility, and your willingness to consistently show up to train.

Your nervous system is in charge. If your nervous system detects any instability, it will react by “splinting” your joints to protect them. Your nervous system is smart: it knows if you move any further, you will injure yourself, so your muscles tighten to protect you. So the goal of this program is take you from splinting mode to movement mode.

First I will help you build your structure and stability. Then we will work on your mobility: i.e. your ability to generate tension in your muscles through greater ranges of motion. We must not put the cart before the horse. I’m basically teaching you what you need to do to give your nervous system the green light so that you can do the splits.
