On March 13 2012, Dr. Sara Solomon, on behalf of About Time Whey, filmed a segment for Lifetime television's "The Balancing Act" Morning Show. On March 21-24, 2012, Sara attended the US Army's "Get Fit...Be Strong" World Fitness Tour in Fort Hood (Texas) with Olympian and Jump Rope Expert, Buddy Lee and Elvis Malcolm (15X World Jump Rope Champion!).

They educated, inspired and motivated the young children at Fort Hood to get fit using jump rope training and high energy nutritional strategies. Stay tuned for the video!

4. Nutrition Tips

SPORTS/ELECTROLYTE DRINKS

Sports drinks were created for high-level athletes who engage in INTENSE exercise in hot outdoor temperatures. A typical 12 oz bottle contains 300 calories, 200mg of sodium, a whopping 78g of carbohydrates and 42g of sugar!!! Unless you need to replenish lost electrolytes because you are competing in an Iron Man in the middle of the Sahara desert, then opt for water. Drinking a sports drink would be the equivalent of swallowing 10.5 sugar cubes, which is heinous!

As we know, unused sugar is inevitably stored as FAT. Since the average person's body will not require this much sugar to fuel a typical workout, you are, in essence, ruining the desired outcome of your workout by drinking this beverage. Instead of burning fat during your workout, you are storing it thanks to your workout drink. And we all know that storing fat increases the risk of obesity and obesity-related illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes. And if that is not enough reason to abstain from sports drinks, then consider this: Sports drinks often contain artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup and food dyes.

According to research presented in the Journal of Hepatology (2008: 48:993-9), high amounts of high fructose corn syrup has been linked to diabetes. So consider trading in your high calorie, high carb, high sugar and high sodium sports/electrolyte drink for water.

He is an expert trainer/coach and has also worked with thousands of clients, including many professional athletes and fitness competitors.
