Today is January 25, 2018. It's my birthday!
Is 40 the new 20? If you asked me that 1.5 years ago, I would have said NO because my body felt like it was 60 years old. I had so many muscle imbalances because I had been using all the wrong muscles for over 30 years. As a result, I had severe right knee pain, chronic left low back pain, poor mobility in my left shoulder, jumping incontinence and an asymmetrical appearance. I couldn't do any pull-ups, I couldn't air squat because of my knee pain and I'd pee my pants every time I jumped rope. Take a look at my crooked before (early 2016) and my after (late 2017).
I decided to go back to school to learn how to fix my imbalances. And it worked! A year and a half later, I can hold handstands, do weighted pull-ups and deadlift 265 pounds for reps. And I'm pain-free! I look and feel balanced, strong, and confident. I weigh in at 140 pounds and 5'6". My 40 year old body FEELS better than it did when I was 20.
I’m not the same person I used to be. I am mentally and physically stronger. I can do things with my body that I never thought I’d be able to do in a million years. There are no words to describe how empowering that is.
I’m grateful I had nearly every muscle imbalance under the sun. It forced me to learn how to “unf*ck” myself.

I do not diet, nor do I exercise to burn calories. Instead, I used food to fuel my body so I can get stronger and fitter. This is really easy to maintain (because I'm neither depriving myself of food nor punishing myself with cardio). Ironically, my physique has never looked better. Muscle is the secret to shedding fat. You can't grow muscle if you are eating diet calories and doing calorie-burning cardio.
